Job Description

Description of the role:
As the Systems Support Officer, you’ll be critical in ensuring the smooth functioning of our financial services systems while contributing to innovative improvements across the firm. You will work closely with our team to deliver exceptional technical support, maintain critical applications, streamline processes, and enhance the user experience for both staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with technical project implementation, including documentation, training, and ongoing support for team members.
  • Troubleshoot systems inefficiencies, automate critical processes, and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate monthly Innovation Committee meetings, prepare minutes, and drive actionable outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT Advisory Group to identify areas of improvement and push initiatives forward.
  • Be the first point of contact for IT support, resolving internal and external system-related issues tied to divisional software (e.g., Xplan).
  • Manage client database updates, data feed integrations, and system onboarding/offboarding for new staff.
  • Maintain procedures, workflows, templates, and disaster recovery documentation to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and uphold system accuracy to enhance our online client experience.
  • Produce monthly management reports highlighting workflow and compliance trends.
  • Identify risks proactively, suggest mitigations, and find opportunities for process improvements.
  • Monitor and ensure software versions are up to date in collaboration with external product providers.

Desired Skills and Experience

What makes you ‘just right’:

  • Degree in Financial Planning, Commerce, Finance, or IT—or a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in systems support, CRM customisation, and troubleshooting technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with Xplan/Iress or similar financial platforms. Financial services/paraplanning experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a professional services or client-focused environment.
  • A proactive problem-solver with exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail.

What makes us ‘just right’:

At William Buck, we are more than just advisors. Everything we do is designed to have a positive impact—on our people, clients, and the broader community. Our mission is clear: to deeply understand our clients’ needs and deliver tailored solutions that go beyond traditional advisory services.

  • A vibrant workplace culture that encourages friendships and fosters professional excellence.
  • Pathways to mentorship and leadership opportunities to support your career development.
  • Flexible work arrangements to suit individual needs.
