Job Description
About the role Love numbers, strategy and the ag sector? We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to work alongside a diverse range of agribusiness clients across cropping, livestock, irrigation, viticulture and horticulture.
This is more than a compliance role. You’ll partner with primary producers and agribusiness operators on tax compliance, tax planning, cashflow forecasting, succession planning, business restructures and strategic advice—helping clients navigate seasonal pressures, growth opportunities and generational change.
You’ll be someone who understands the rhythms of regional business, builds trusted relationships and can turn complex numbers into clear, practical advice. Description of the role:
As a Senior Accountant in our Agribusiness Business Advisory team, whilst much of your work will be devoted to agribusiness, you will still have opportunity to work across a diverse range of clients and industries, focusing on strategic tax advice, compliance, and accounting services. You will be responsible for reviewing the work of junior team members, maintaining financial accuracy for clients, and identifying opportunities that help them achieve their business goals.
Key responsibilities
Understanding suitable trading and ownership structures
Prepare financial statements for trading and investment trusts and companies, including all associated reconciliations and working papers.
Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, trusts, and companies, including all associated schedules.
Handle preparation and lodgment of BAS, IAS, and FBT returns.
Compile Div 7A / UPE loan summaries, including understanding loan documentation and annual repayment requirements.
Manage client correspondence with the ATO
Assist clients with indirect tax matters, such as GST, FBT, Payroll, and Stamp Duty.
Prepare detailed and accurate tax planning strategies and advice for clients.
Desired Skills and Experience
What Makes You ‘Just Right’
Bachelor of Commerce or Business, majoring in Accounting or Finance.
CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualified or CPA Certified.
Minimum of 3 years of public practice experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, and QuickBooks.
Knowledge of data analysis software such as Power BI or cashflow forecasting software (desirable).
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Copilot
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when dealing with competing priorities.
Problem-solver with a data-driven approach to creating practical solutions.
Clear and concise communicator, able to explain complex concepts.
